Our Group-wide performance management system motiv8 helps us evaluate and develop leaders and high-potential people in accordance with their abilities, performance and goals. In constructive, candid discussions, you talk with your supervisor once a year about your career interests. Following this discussion, you put together a development plan tailored to your very own needs. It includes needs-based steps, ranging from training in specific subject areas to comprehensive talent-promotion programs, and aims to achieve just one goal: your professional advancement at Deutsche Post DHL.

A distinctive, comprehensive professional development program
No matter whether you want to learn a foreign language, expand your IT qualifications or train to become a manager; no matter whether you are interested in economics, law or psychology: The Deutsche Post DHL Academy, our Group's training portal, offers an appropriate qualification opportunity for all interests and abilities. On our e-learning platform, "mylearningsworld.net", alone, we currently offer more than 1,000 courses. The range of subjects extends from general managerial skills to IT applications. In addition, we have developed customized learning modules about our Group programs First Choice and GoGreen as well as about our global road-safety initiative for our employees.
Corporate Language School
Our employees find everything they need to know about learning foreign languages at the Corporate Language School. The portal helps people not only analyze their individual language level and job-related learning needs, but also select a suitable language school and put together a tailored training plan.

From regular events that people attend in person and talks by specialists to demanding weekend seminars out in the country: The learning methods employed by the academy are just as multifaceted as their subjects. Innovative e-learning methods are naturally part of the repertoire. And for good reason. They have one major strength: You yourself determine when and where you will learn. You even select the content and set your own pace. In the process, you acquire new knowledge interactively. As a result, you are constantly testing your knowledge and determining whether you can already apply your new know-how to specific practical questions. IMP: Riding tandem to the top
Are you looking for a new, challenging position and are you interested in an international career? As a member of our international mentoring program (IMP), you can advance your career in a multicultural setting.
The heart of the program is a two-person team consisting of a mentor and a mentee. Selected employees who have distinguished themselves through their entrepreneurial skills, international mobility, creative drive, openness to criticism and strong commitment will be coached for one year by experienced mentors. During this period, they are systematically prepared for managerial responsibilities and assisted with the development of their leadership skills in individual coaching sessions.
eMBA
We reward your dedication
Deutsche Post DHL places a high priority on talent support. An important component of our needs-based and targeted personnel development efforts is our group-wide "Executive MBA Sponsorship Program" (eMBA) for managers and experts. It is based on our management performance system motiv8 and is designed for selected talented employees who consciously decide to take on the challenge of completing the approximately two-year Executive MBA Program while juggling their job, studies and private lives.
We at Deutsche Post DHL welcome such dedication. And there is even more to it than that: We reward it and finance the Executive MBA Program at one of the well-known and highly respected business schools.

The Platform for managers: DP DHL University
The platform promotes the development of cross-divisional networks, the acquisition of a shared understanding of the Corporate Values, the improvement of leadership qualities and the initiation of an international discussion.
Developing business acumen
The "International Business Leadership Program" (IBLP) gives senior middle managers the opportunity to set up cross-divisional networks, explore the latest business strategies and to develop leadership skills.
The subjects covered in the program are tailored to the needs of senior middle managers. They address the following areas: global trends, corporate strategy, financial performance and leadership quality. The participants' knowledge base about other business units is also expanded and their customer focus is sharpened.
360° Feedback
Our development tools for managers
In 2008, about 1,300 managers took advantage of the 360-degree feedback in order to determine how their strengths and improvement potential are seen by others and to set personal development goals based on these evaluations.
Clear feedback, higher motivation and more success
People who lead bear tremendous responsibility. It is all the more important that managers are aware of their leadership behavior and clearly recognize both their strengths and potential. This is exactly where 360-degree feedback focuses: It employs an open, constructive dialogue, and gives managers and experts a good idea about their own leadership qualities and employee performance – from superiors, subordinates and employees of equal rank. The feedback is placed within the context of the managers' own evaluation of themselves, promoting a better understanding of their strengths and improvement potential.
A tool that helps everyone
The 360-degree feedback generally does more than help the people who have received the feedback. Members of the team who conducted the evaluation think the process has a positive effect on the work environment. In these terms, the 360-degree feedback serves as an additional dialogue platform that gives valuable momentum to the working relationship and further strengthens our corporate and managerial culture that is based on respect, candor and results.
