- The price of "E-Postbrief"
The price of "E-Postbrief"
Service with an intrinsic value has an accepted price: The price for "E-Postbrief" is 55 euro cent, for both the purely electronic and the hybrid standard option.
With the "E-Postbrief", Deutsche Post enables secure and confidential communication also on the Internet. The value of a letter is based on a high quality service - the confidential and reliable delivery. Providing this service requires a high amount of investment to create the necessary infrastructure. This service has an accepted value.
"E-Postbrief" fulfills the same service promise as the physical letter. Secure transport and reliable delivery require the implementation of security measures at the highest level, also and especially on the Internet. A considerable investment is made by Deutsche Post for the implementation and documentation of the Postident process alone. The Postident process makes it possible to prove the actual identity of every user and therefore creates a uniquely identified customer base for the "E-Postbrief". This is the basis for binding electronic communication. Deutsche Post therefore offers the same level of security and confidentiality with "E-Postbrief" as with the physical letter. This service cannot be provided free of charge.
When sending an "E-Postbrief" item, users pay only for the specific service that they are using - in exactly the same way as for the traditional letter. The cost structure is also essentially the same as for traditional letters. Both the electronic and the hybrid standard option cost 55 euro cent. Customers will of course be informed of the charges incurred in each case before the item is sent.
Therefore, registration, Postident process and provision of the personal electronic mailbox are free of charge for the customer. The receipt of "E-Postbrief" items is also free for the users, as are the fax function and the integration of private e-mail accounts in the portal.
