Deutsche Post: Leading the way in equal opportunities for women
Company receives Total E-Quality award
Bonn, 10/12/2006, 11:30 AM CESTDeutsche Post has once again received the "Total E-Quality" award. The organization of the same name has recognized the company for best practice in promoting women in management positions. Around half of the employees at Deutsche Post, one of the largest employers of women in Germany, are female. Deutsche Post World Net was awarded the title, which was first presented in 1996, in both 2000 and 2003.
Walter Scheurle, Board Member Personnel at Deutsche Post World Net, listed a spirit of partnership in the workplace between employees and management, achieving a balance between family and professional life as well as equal opportunities in promotion to management positions as key elements of the Group’s corporate culture. "Deutsche Post has been involved for some years in ensuring equal opportunities between its male and female staff," stated Scheurle at the awards ceremony in Frankfurt/Main. "This was a well-established element of our personnel policy long before corresponding legal regulations came into force."
Whilst rewarding the company's approach to promoting female staff in management, the award also acknowledges the diverse opportunities afforded to staff in tailoring working hours to suit their individual needs. Deutsche Post also guarantees social security payments to staff while on parental leave at levels above the statutory requirement.
Deutsche Post is continually striving to achieve equal opportunities in the workplace. Measures which were being planned at the time of the 2003 awards ceremony have since been implemented - another reason why the award has been given to Deutsche Post once again.
