"GoGreen Pluspäckchen" is launched
Deutsche Post customers help reduce greenhouse gases
Bonn, 07/24/2006, 11:30 AM CESTFor every small package sold Deutsche Post World Net will invest ten cents in global climate protection initiatives. This engagement, for example, benefits projects devoted to reforestation of the rain forest in Brazil's Amazon regions or to the promotion of solar energy in Sri Lanka and India. The vehicle fleet is also supposed to be further expanded with environmentally-friendly vehicles.
The main attraction: like its predecessor, the new "GoGreen Pluspäckchen" costs a mere EUR5.99 and is made of recycled cardboard. The benefit to nature: "We calculate the CO 2 emissions that arise due to transport and compensate for them through environmental initiatives that lower emissions," says Dr. Claude Béglé, Chairman of the DHL Express Germany, explaining the concept. "With this product, we are the first logistician at all to offer the end-consumer climate-neutral shipping of small packages."
