Changes to pension payments for many pensioners from 2009
Standard health insurance contribution results in changes to pension payments
Bonn, 12/17/2008, 10:30 AM CET
From January 2009 the amount paid out in monthly pension will change for many people. The reason for this is the standard uniform rate of 15.5 per cent that will apply for contributions to statutory health insurance schemes following the introduction of the new Health Fund.
In many cases this may result in changes to the pension contribution paid by the health insurance fund which in turn will influence the level of pension payments made to those in receipt of pensions.
Details provided in bank statements
Deutsche Rentenversicherung (German statutory pension insurance scheme) will be informing pensioners about the new level of pension payment in the bank statement issued to pensioners with their January 2009 payment.
As well as the new payment amount, the notes accompanying the payment entry will include information on the new general contribution rate applicable to statutory health insurance schemes and will also provide details of changed health insurance contributions.
Pensioners with voluntary or private insurance and in receipt of a contribution subsidy, will receive a letter from the Deutsche Rentenversicherung in the next few days containing information on changes to subsidy levels.
The Pension Service of Deutsche Post, in its capacity as partner of Deutsche Rentenversicherung, will be arranging the new monthly payments with its customary efficiency.
Those in receipt of pensions can obtain more details by using the free telephone information service on 0800 1000 48000 or by contacting the information and advice centers operated by Deutsche Rentenversicherung.
