The first climate-friendly shipping with DHL
- Czechs can now help protect the climate when sending shipments
- GoGreen service allows customers to cut their own carbon footprint
- Money raised will support environmental projects
DHL Express Czech Republic is to start a new environmental service called GoGreen
GoGreen shipments use the same network and arrive at the required time just like other shipments. The difference is that clients pay a small surcharge to contribute toward environmental projects and in return receive a certificate stating that their shipments are carbon neutral.
"One of our company's main goals is to be at the forefront in environmental protection. We are delighted that we are now able to offer this service to environmentally aware customers in the Czech Republic." said TimeDefinite Product Manager Martin Pocar.
DHL strives to be a role model in the global battle against climate change
DHL was the first logistics company that started offering customers the option to offset the carbon emissions produced through their transports. As the world's leading logistics provider, DHL and its parent company Deutsche Post World Net, also strive to be a role model in the global battle against climate change. The Group just started a comprehensive climate protection program aimed at improving carbon efficiency by 30 percent by 2020.
According to Czech market research, almost 70% of customers with certificate ISO 14000 are interested in the environmental impacts of their operations. "We are aware that a significant proportion of customers have expressed an interest in tackling environmental protection issues. Many of them have decided to invest in this environmental protection. As a result, we expect growing interest in GoGreen," added Martin Pocar.
"When customers decide to use GoGreen, they receive special GoGreen stickers from DHL to put on their shipments. These stickers inform the receiver that the sender is involved in an environmental program and is thus helping to cut carbon emissions," said DHL Express Quality&Environment Manager Ondrej Kulhánek.
Customers can use their certificate in corporate responsibility reports
Every customer ordering the GoGreen service receives an annual certificate stating the total amount of CO2 reduced during the year. This certificate, like the entire GoGreen system, is verified by independent Swiss certifier SGS. Customers can use it as an official carbon reduction certificate in their corporate responsibility reports and thus demonstrate that they are environmentally responsible.
GoGreen is available to anyone and can be ordered on selected international express shipments. The price of this eco-friendly shipping option is just 2 percent of the transport charge. For all GoGreen products and services, the Group's Carbon Management measures the carbon emissions and offsets them by investing in internal measures such as alternative fuels and external projects including the reforestation of rain forests in Latin America or a small hydro power plant in Brazil.
