- May 07, 2008: DHL commits to delivery before 12 noon with "D12"
DHL commits to delivery before 12 noon with "D12", its domestic "Day Definite Service" express service
Roissy, 05/07/2008, 11:30 AM CEST
As companies are required to meet increasingly strict deadlines, DHL Express is adding on to its express services and presents "D12", which guarantees parcel and pallet deliveries before 12 noon in French cities and towns with more than 5,000 inhabitants.
With D12, senders can rely on exact delivery deadlines and have the assurance that their addressees will be satisfied. This service is in line with the objectives of transport and logistics managers:
A decrease in storage costs ("D12" facilitates the just-in-time functionality and therefore the reduction of items in stock), Management of hidden distribution costs (Deadlines are met; late penalties set out in the addressees' terms and conditions are therefore minimized), Continuity of supplies (the restocking of points of sale is ensured) and Improvement of service level provided to the addressee (the addressee is helped as quickly as possible should a problem arise).
Patrick Aguirregaviria, General Manager of the Messagerie (Day Definite Service) division at DHL Express France emphasizes: "The legal constraints linked to the new speed limits of vehicles in France has redefined the borders between the Day Definite Service service and domestic express mail. Express carriers have had to revise their transport schedules, meaning that additional costs have been reflected in the price of their services. The Day Definite Service is becoming an alternative for shippers, but with one new demand: the assurance of meeting deadlines. D12 responds to that need."
DHL "D12": High-end express service
DHL Express provides express solutions to shippers of parcels and pallets in France and in Europe (30 countries) thanks to a network of 68 agencies throughout France.
The "D12" service is a high-end express service available throughout France for shipping parcels and pallets to cities and towns with more than 5,000 inhabitants. It guarantees the delivery of parcels and pallets up to 1,000 kilograms within 24 or 48 hours according to the "Day Definite Service" transit times of DHL Express.
"D12" is a service that is very easy to use. The DHL client simply has to place a self-adhesive label on the priority parcel or pallet to signal its importance. There is no need to call ahead - the merchandise is picked up at the same time as the other Day Definite Service shipments, domestic and European, and it is shown on the regular invoice. With the self-adhesive label, shipments have priority at each of the stages: loading, transit, delivery. A check is carried out before 12 noon with each of the DHL couriers to ensure the delivery of the service.
The "D12" shipments can be tracked directly online. The signed delivery receipts which show the time of delivery can be viewed on the Internet.
