DHL to plant lime tree avenue in Plzen region
Prague, 03/04/2008, 10:30 AM CET
DHL Express (Czech Republic) s.r.o., has more socially beneficial projects planned for this year. Its main activities will include planting an avenue of lime trees near the village of Brasy in the Plzen region in April, and landscaping a park in Velká Bystrice in the Olomouc region.
Both projects are aimed at enhancing the scenery and generally increasing the proportion of greenery in the landscape. In partnership with the Czech Environmental Partnership Foundation (Nadace Partnerství), DHL is helping to realise the vision of sustainable development in the Czech Republic.
Thanks to DHL and the Czech Environmental Partnership Foundation (CEPF), a road in the Plzen region is to get a new avenue of lime trees, and the residents of Velká Bystrice can look forward to a greener and better looking park.
The project of Brasy which was initiated by local beekeepers will be implemented in the spring
"We believe that these activities will bring joy to all those who visit tree-lined avenues and parks, and in particular to those who will be involved in planting the greenery. I am delighted to say that this will include a large group of DHL employees," said Jirí Stojar, General Manager of DHL Express CZ.
"For 16 years we have been helping active citizens to improve the environment. We are pleased that companies like DHL are drawing on the reservoir of projects evaluated responsibly by the committees and Board of Directors of the CEPF. The project to plant an avenue of trees in Brasy in the Plzen region, which was initiated by local beekeepers, was selected back in autumn 2007 and we are delighted that DHL's Plzen staff will be there to help implement it in the spring," said CEPF Director Miroslav Kundrata.
The CEPF has been working in partnership with DHL Express CZ for three years. The projects all have several things in common: they are aimed at enhancing the environment; they support sustainable development in the Czech Republic; and they involve the public. Supporting interest in, and responsibility for, the environment is the easiest way of fostering a responsible relationship to specific localities and to nature in general.
