Rainer Wend succeeds Monika Wulf-Mathies
New Head of Corporate Public Policy and Sustainability
Bonn, 12/08/2008, 10:30 AM CETRainer Wend, age 54, Economic Policy Spokesman for the SPD (Social Democratic Party) parliamentary group, will become Head of Corporate Public Policy and Sustainability at Deutsche Post World Net in Bonn effective April 1, 2009.
He will succeed Monika Wulf-Mathies, age 66, who will retire at the end of 2008.
Wend is assuming the position responsible for Group's political coordination, environmental strategy and sustainability as well as Corporate Social Responsibility.
In addition to the departments in Bonn, he will also manage offices in Berlin, Brussels, Washington and Singapore. He reports directly to CEO Frank Appel.
With a PhD in Law, Wend has been a member of the German Bundestag, the lower house of parliament, since 1998. He was mayor of the city of Bielefeld from 1994 to 2003, and before that a practicing lawyer since 1984.
Sören Deng, Head of the Principles Policy Department, will act as interim Head until Wend assumes his position with Deutsche Post World Net.
