DHL Supply Chain Center of Excellence hits the multi-million dollar mark in three years
First-of-its-kind, DHL SCCE is supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board; aims to develop the nation's status as the world's leading logistics hub
Singapore, 07/16/2009, 11:30 AM CESTDHL today announced key milestone achievements of its Supply Chain Center of Excellence (SCCE), a unique set-up pioneered by DHL Global Customer Solutions (GCS), and supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) to facilitate and support local and foreign investors in both manufacturing and services sectors in Singapore.
To support the set-up of these companies, DHL SCCE provides best-in-class supply chain infrastructure and market-leading intelligence on strategic consultation, design, deployment and management services. To date SCCE has generated multi-million dollars worth of business in three years.
Established in 2007, the SCCE's vision is based on three core pillars of Consultancy, Thought Leadership, and Technology & Innovation.
DHL partners with EDB to help shape Singapore's logistics future
"The Supply Chain Center of Excellence aims to enhance Singapore's position as a logistics hub by leveraging DHL's strengths in customer relationship management and supply chain capabilities to develop, test-bed and commercialize supply chain solutions for MNCs and customers," says Richard Owens, CEO of Global Customer Solutions, DHL Asia Pacific, "We are pleased to partner with EDB to help shape Singapore's logistics future."
Through Consultancy services, DHL partners closely with companies to design and implement scalable and sustainable solutions. These projects have attracted multi- nationals to set up their regional supply chain hubs in Singapore.
Under Thought Leadership, SCCE seeks to improve specific skill sets for the logistics workforce, both within DHL and among external organizations. Most recently on 13 - 15 July, DHL, together with Accenture, staged the first Supply Chain Professional Series for 30 industry practitioners. The Series, an education and knowledge sharing program, is designed to provide a comprehensive approach to global supply chain management, strategic planning, and effective and efficient solution designs.
Significant achievements of the SCCE include a two-year RFID project
Delegates who attended the Supply Chain Professional Series praised the Three-day program, including Alberto Tureikis, Supply Chain Director South & Southeast Asia, Tetra Pak, "I especially like the open and lively discussions with experts from EDB, academics, and a cross-section of logistics professionals. The event provided important tools, experiences and best practices from world class companies, which through the right applications will generate outstanding gains."
In the area of Technology & Innovation, SCCE has provided valuable deliverables to corporations in the Aviation, Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), Technology, and Life Sciences. Significant achievements include a two-year RFID project with a global technology company on an inventory management system; development and deployment of supply chain tools and products such as Inventory Ownership and MRO (Maintenance Repair and Overhaul) solutions.
"Today as we look back at what we have accomplished through SCCE, we are very pleased with the achievements. Next, we are eager to explore what's to come in the future, in areas such as green supply chain that will create a sustainable logistics future for Singapore," added Richard.
