Deutsche Post DHL added to Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for the first time
Bonn, 09/04/2009, 11:30 AM CEST
Deutsche Post DHL, the world's leading logistics provider, for the first time has been added to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index. The Group is also a member of the pan-European Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability Index again.
The annual review of the DJSI family is based on the Corporate Sustainability Assessment of Swiss investment boutique SAM, analyzing corporate economic, environmental and social performance of companies.
"Topics such as climate change, health, education and economic development have a significant impact on our company," said Chief Executive Officer Frank Appel. "For our investors, employees and customers we want to become the first choice also in the field of sustainable logistics. Being added to the important Dow Jones Sustainability index family proves that we're on the right track."
As part of its Strategy 2015, Deutsche Post DHL has defined sustainable development as a key element of its future growth strategy. One important focus is the Group's climate protection program GoGreen, aimed at improving carbon efficiency by 30 percent by 2020.
In addition to that, the Group's DHL Disaster Reponse Teams and the education and training programs, with Teach First Germany as a main pillar, play an important role in the Deutsche Post DHL's sustainability program.
