Improving educational opportunity and employability (GoTeach)
The long-term success, sustainability and innovative power of our economy and society dependson a strong educational system and targeted efforts to develop the next generation of working professionals. As one of the largest employers worldwide Deutsche Post DHL has established its Group-wide program GoTeach as a way to improve educational opportunity for young people and prepare them for the working world. Through the GoTeach program Deutsche Post DHL collaborates with two established partners: Teach For All and SOS Children’s Villages. Working together with these partners, our goal is to help children and young people from all socio-economic backgrounds develop their potential, learn skills and access new opportunities for their career development.
Our Projects
Under the partnership with Teach First Deutschland, employees act as mentors by supporting and encouraging students in grades 8 to 10 at German general and less academically-oriented secondary schools (Hauptschulen and Realschulen) for around 15 months.
Under the partnership with the SOS Children's Villages, 4 to 5 DHL employees in Madagascar share responsibility for mentoring a young person over a 10-month period, giving them first-hand impressions of their daily work. This gives mentees an insight into the working world and the motivation to develop their knowledge and skills. The DHL employees benefit from the experience of acting as role models.
Recognizing the talents of the Teach For India teachers (known as Fellows) and to unlock their potential, a Leadership Development Program has been organized by Deutsche Post DHL and Teach For India for about 30 Fellows. The four-day program offers structured training that will better equip the Fellows with leadership and interpersonal skills suitable for their teaching stints as well as for their subsequent professional careers in business.
